The Endoscopy Technician has either no experience in endoscopy or is a novice in the endoscopy setting. The technician assists the nurses and physicians in providing care for the endoscopy patient. They must complete competencies for all basic GI procedures and scope reprocessing. The Technician also supports the area with duties that include, but are not limited to preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment including gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant. The job also includes transportation of patients and equipment, stocking/maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories contributing to the daily functions of the unit. They have strong sense of infection control in the GI setting.

No endoscopy experience is required. Successful completion of 2-day system endoscopy education within 30 days of hire. Required and Successful completion of on-the-job training with documentation of orientation and all competencies met (specific competencies determined by facility of employment). Required
Ability to read, write and speak the English language; Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; BCLS required. Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care; Competency in all aspects of GI procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection; Ability to delegate to other team members as required; Ability to multi-task is essential: Ability to function in stressful and emergent situations essential; Strong detail orientation required; Proficiency in all general GI procedures is required. Computer skills may be required; Emergency call coverage requirements specific to facility of employment.
