Optum West is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to support financial modeling, operational planning, and capital planning across the organization. This role partners with operational teams to deliver insights that align with core business objectives and strategic priorities.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of consolidated OPEX & Capital budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support Optum West's operational and technology objectives
- Provide strategic guidance for major cost centers, including supporting the financial oversight of information technology, medical equipment, & shared services
- Drive monthly and quarterly OPEX variance analyses, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations to optimize spend and improve financial planning wherever possible
- Collaborate with Finance & IT leadership, shared services, and operational teams to align financial planning with enterprise initiatives
- Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards to monitor financial performance and cost-benefit outcomes
- Build and maintain advanced Excel-based financial models for OPEX tracking, forecasting, and scenario analysis
- Manage financial systems and tools to support real-time tracking, reporting, and forecasting, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal controls
- Partner with procurement and vendor management teams to evaluate contracts, negotiate terms, and assess total cost of ownership for services and solutions
- Support quarterly forecasting cycles and annual budget planning, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and regulatory requirements
- Lead financial reporting and presentations for leadership, translating complex financial data into strategic insights
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, UHG, HIPAA, SOX, and other regulatory frameworks in financial operations
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and scenario modeling to support investment decisions and operational planning

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting, with a solid focus on OPEX management or FP&A
- Proven solid understanding of corporate reporting
- Experience with financial systems such as Anaplan, Planful, PowerBI, Essbase, PeopleSoft, or similar ERP/forecasting tools
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven solid analytical skills with a focus on operational efficiency and cost optimization
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Proven advanced Excel skills and proficiency in PowerPoint for executive-level presentations
- Ability to travel occasionally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare finance, especially supporting shared services or technology initiatives
- Familiarity with cost allocation models and real-time performance monitoring tools
- Experience with value-based care financial models and outcome-driven budgeting
- Demonstrated success in aligning financial planning with operational and strategic goals
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
