The Senior Consultant, Technology Consulting is a leader within the Optum Advisory Service.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert supporting payer systems and applications projects by:
- Designing technical and business processes
- Performing analysis and writing requirements
- Leading workstream sessions and fostering solid client relationships
- Owning deliverables in a fast-paced environment
- Contribute significantly to team problem-solving across the full project scope
- Structure and lead team working sessions (e.g., problem-solving, discovery) with guidance from the delivery lead
- Facilitate or participate in client discovery sessions to capture requirements and document process flows
- Establish credibility and demonstrate expertise on key topics
- Utilize process design and testing tools (e.g., Jira, Rally, Visio, Miro) to support client work
- Create clear, documented deliverables that translate business needs into technical requirements, including features, specifications, and user stories related to the payer value chain (e.g., claims, enrollment, provider, customer service, care management)
- Participate in agile activities such as PI planning, grooming, sprint planning, and prioritization
- Lead or contribute to practice development initiatives
- Proactively identify and communicate challenges and risks, offering recommendations for resolution
- Work independently or collaboratively to produce high-quality documentation
- Facilitate client review sessions to obtain input and approval on deliverables
- Communicate effectively and accurately-both verbally and in writing-with clients, prospects, and team members

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of healthcare payer operations and/or technology experience in at least one of the following domains:
- Claims
- Enrollment / Eligibility
- Billing
- Provider
- 2+ years of experience documenting consulting deliverables, such as:
- Requirements
- Features
- User stories
- Test cases
- Technical specifications / mapping documents
- 2+ years of external, client-facing consulting experience
- 2+ years of experience creating process flow diagrams
- Experience working with at least one core administration system (e.g., Facets, QNXT, HealthRules Payer, Tapestry)
- Experience managing a workstream
- Experience working on at least one Agile project
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
- Willingness to travel domestically, up to 25% depending on project requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on at least one end-to-end payer systems and application implementations or migration project
- Hands-on experience working with Facets
- Experience with any / all of the following applications: MS Project, Smartsheet, Service Now, Jira, Rally
- Experience in a Product Owner role
- Experience working on a cloud migration project

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
