Experienced Senior Tax Associate
As an Experienced Senior Tax Associate, you will assist the state direct tax function and will be involved in all aspects of the state direct tax practice, including compliance, provision, planning, and special projects. Depending on your career goals, you will also have opportunities to become involved with federal and international tax projects as well as M&A transactions. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide variety of tax matters including:
- Prepare state and local income tax returns as assigned by management
- Assist with the state apportionment process including compiling and analyzing supporting property, payroll, and sales data and related nexus/sourcing determinations
- Lead and support state income tax audit/controversy assignments
- Support quarterly and long-range state effective tax rate calculations
- Research state direct tax technical issues, document conclusions and refine tax processes
- Participate in state direct tax planning, compliance including estimated payments, provision, controversy, state R&D study, and M&A activities as directed by tax leadership
- Develop solid relationships with accounting/finance, IT, and tax personnel to maximize opportunities within the state direct tax team

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience
- Solid computer data literacy including intermediate proficiency with the Microsoft products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments and manage workload within statutory and internal deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, Masters of Business Tax ("MBT")
- 4+ years of tax or accounting experience in a public accounting firm or equivalent experience in a large corporate tax department
- Knowledge of state and local direct tax laws and regulations
- Experience with Microsoft's PowerBI Automation software
- Proven communication, organization, and project planning skills
- Motivated team player who has an interest in federal and state taxes
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
