This position is responsible for functioning as both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, (nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Patient Care Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates.
This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday with availability to work between the hours of 6:00am-5:30pm.
Up to $15,000 sign on bonus, subject to two-year Hospital Sign on Advance Agreement. (External candidates only.)
The individual in this position reports to the Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and other designated supervisory staff on duty. This position works closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians in order to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
Specific accountabilities include: performing assessment/data collection, implementing care, identifying patient/significant other learning needs, documenting in patient's chart, demonstrating awareness of and sensitivity to patient/significant other and family rights, demonstrating appropriate delegation of patient care activities, demonstrating effective organization and priority setting, demonstrating appropriate use of lines of authority, functioning as a Charge Nurse, maintaining professional growth and development, functioning with awareness of/adherence to safety requirements, ensuring self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, ensuring the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner, conducting self in a professional manner, and ensuring that additional accountabilities, as may be required, by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
Additional position qualifications/competencies by unit include: ACLS (AHA Advanced Life Support) certification, PALS (AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or PEARS (AHA Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization) certification, CAPA certification preferred, continuing education requirements, 8 hours of orientation training, 8 hours annual training, and performance expectations.
Education & experience required include: graduation from an accredited school of nursing, current Washington State RN licensure, HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire, experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred, minimum one year of RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments, and skills/competencies including ability to perform the primary functions of a Registered Nurse, critical thinking skills, accountability, crisis management, competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum, competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.
Physical requirements include: frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling, manual dexterity, light physical effort, ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs, physical strength to perform CPR, keen mental faculties, good reading eyesight, emotional stability, and ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills.
