Responsible for managing psychotropic medications for the clients of RHA. Duties include initial psychiatric evaluation of client and subsequent follow up visits for medication evaluation and management. This position is an integral part of the team and would work in collaboration with not only other RHA staff but health care professionals in the community.

Education, licensure, and experience required for the position include:

  • Requires a certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant and experience working with the population supported.
  • Relies on experience, knowledge, and judgment to provide services with limited supervision and direction.

Physical requirements to perform essential functions of the job include:

  • Regular required to lift 20 lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Must be able to pull minimum of 25 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Required to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear.

Below are a few highlights of RHA Behavioral Health:

  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) hybrid with movement to a fully established EMR.
  • Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling. RHA support staff and clinical leadership manages the schedule so the person prescribing doesn't have to.
  • Nursing assistance in specified sites.
  • Established protocols regarding communication with primary care.

Requirements:

  • Our ideal Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an excellent communicator and listener, who has a certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and experience working with the population supported. Relies on experience, knowledge, and judgment to provide services with limited supervision and direction.
  • Education and/or Experience:
    • Must be licensed by the North Carolina Nursing Board as a Registered Nurse.
    • Must be certified at the national level by American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Be familiar with standards of practice for position and NC Medicaid Board as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Preferred 3 years experience working in behavioral health care.
    • The Nurse Practitioner must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training specific to the required components of the service definition including crisis response within the first 90 days of employment.
    • For employees providing MCM, a minimum of one year's experience in providing crisis management services in the following settings: assertive outreach, assertive community treatment, emergency department or other service providing 24/7 response in emergent or urgent situations.
    • Valid driver's license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.
    • The following are conditions of employment: CPR, first aid, NCI certification and others that may be specified and/or required by future company regulations. Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging if required.

  • Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
