IDD Registered Nurse /RN/ High Point
We are hiring for:
IDD Registered Nurse /RN
Location: High Point, NC
Type: Regular
Pay: $70,720
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30a - 5p
Reports To: Regional Nursing Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Observe, assess, and evaluate the health needs of the people we support.
- Coordinate preventative and routine medical care for people supported.
- Document nursing care provided.
- Provide clinical supervision or oversight for licensed practical nurses and med techs as deemed necessary.
- Assist with educational and training programs for new employees to include planning, conducting, and scheduling in a timely manner.
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics where applicable.
- Provide health related training to unlicensed personnel.
- Teach medication administration training to unlicensed personnel when state law allows.
- Conduct medication pass observations in the home to ensure staff competency.
- Complete skill competency checklists on delegated healthcare tasks.
- Teach the people we serve to monitor their health.
- Provide medication administration training to people who are able to self-administer medications.
- Audits medication administration.
- Conduct medication closest assessments.
- Perform quality assurance checks and observations to ensure unlicensed personnel are performing health related tasks as assigned.
- Conduct routine nursing assessments.
- Observe and report any abnormal health related findings to the physician.
- Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health for the people supported.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide nursing support and address needs outside of regular scheduled hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program
- BSN preferred, but not required.
- Current registered nurse license with no restrictions to practice nursing.
- Possess credentials required by Federal or State law.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, as well as the people supported and their families.
- Must be able to work independently, be organized, and possess the ability to prioritize work tasks.
- Current CPR Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly required to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pull a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
- Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Required to regularly stand and walk.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
- Must be able to talk and hear.
