Optum applies evidence-based approach in provision of exceptional patient care. This role works with Population Health leaders to drive strategies and objectives by designing analytical tools for clinical management and staff productivity; as well as directly supporting various employed and contracted specialties that provide wraparound services for our patients. Focus includes program and intervention performance assessment, development of metrics, reporting to leadership. This position reports into the Sr. Manager of Population Health Analytics and involves significant exposure to Optum's regional VP-level leaders, Senior Medical Directors, as well as the Chief Medical Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Customer Service & Compliance: Demonstrate exceptional customer service and professional communication while ensuring strict HIPAA compliance in handling protected health information (PHI)
  • Data Analytics & Modeling: Design and maintain sophisticated data models, analytics frameworks, and KPIs to assess patient outcomes, evaluate care interventions, and support data-driven decision making
  • Reporting & Dashboarding: Develop operational dashboards, maintain comprehensive documentation of analytical processes, and create visual reporting tools that incorporate industry benchmarks for performance contextualization
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Serve as project leader and strategic thought partner for Operations and Medical Directors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or professional certification requiring formal education beyond a two-year college program
  • 2+ years of data analysis experience with demonstrated expertise in MS Excel, SQL, and Snowflake; proficiency in additional analytics platforms such as Tableau, Python, or PowerBI
  • Proven ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership audiences, with demonstrated excellence in both verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated understanding of healthcare data systems, patient outcomes measurement, and regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA)
  • Proven solid problem-solving abilities with experience in developing KPIs, operational reporting, and performance measurement frameworks
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel for data presentation and analysis
  • Ability to work 8-5 PST hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant Master's Degree focused on business analytics, applied analytics, MBA etc.
  • Knowledge of other analytics platforms (e.g. Tableau, Python, PowerBI)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $71,200 to $127,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
