Functioning as the leader of the Care Delivery Team, the Clinical Nurse I (CN I) assumes the responsibility of directing care for a team of patients, using the CN II as a resource. The nursing care reflects independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, and sociocultural needs. Demonstrates competencies essential in the use of all equipment utilized in the care of patient age groups as indicated. A CN I is the entry step to the Mercy (CHP) Clinical Ladder. The CN I has one year to progress to the CN II level.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills, Etc.: Graduation from a state-accredited school of nursing. Current licensure from the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse and current BLS/CPR certification. Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period. Completes Orientation Checklist. Obtains/maintains a minimum of 12 contact hours of continuing education annually which includes Fire Safety & CPR/BLS Recertification. Must have theoretical knowledge combined with beginning level clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.
Working Conditions: Moderate level of physical exertion required. Occasional exposure to adverse conditions.
Reporting Relationships: Responsible to Nurse Manager, or in his/her absence, the Administrative Supervisor. May receive direct instructions from CN II or Charge Nurse. Workers supervised: Licensed Practical Nurses and Patient Care Assistants.
Full Time - 36 weekly scheduled hours. Every 3rd weekend and every other holiday. On Call required. Shift - 7p - 730a.
