Licensed Practical Nurse

Assumes accountability and responsibility of the administration of medications and treatment prescribed by a licensed physician, upon completion of a medication course approved by the Board of Nursing. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Completion of an approved practical nursing education program (required)
- Current licensure as an LPN in the state of OH
- Successful completion of a board approved course in medication administration
- One to three months to learn job: 6 month experience in acute patient care setting
- Passes a NLN medication pretest
- Medication exam to insure that skills are maintained every three years
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects and documents subjective and objective data related to the patient's health status. Reports data to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
- Contributes to the development, maintenance or modification of the nursing component of the plan of care.
- Provides direct basic nursing care at the direction of the RN.
- Collaborates with nurses and other members of the healthcare team.
- Contributes to the evaluation of patient responses to nursing interventions. Documents and communicates responses to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
- Administers medications timely and accurately according to physician orders
- If IV course completed, starts IVs and administers IV fluids timely and accurately according to scope of practice and physician orders.
- Performs patient teaching to patients and documents appropriately.
- Reports all changes in patient condition to RN or physician.
- Displays the ability to proficiently perform skills according to the LPN job description as assigned.
- Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to designated Manager (or employer hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or policies.

- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth & development over the life span by completing continuing education program.

- Shift: Days
- Hours: 7:00AM - 7:30PM
- Hours per pay period: 72
- Weekend, holiday and on-call rotation required per department policy
