The per diem Radiography Technologist Extern, under supervision of a Certified Radiography Technologist, performs basic imaging procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Responsibilities include assisting in reviewing history and physician's orders, informing patients regarding procedures and exams, assisting in patient positioning, greeting patients, verifying prescriptions, providers, and scheduling patients as needed, communicating with departments to facilitate efficient care, assisting in preparing equipment and supply, and transporting patients via wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or neuro chair to designated sites as requested.

Competencies required include accountability, customer service, equipment monitoring - radiography/ir, patient positioning and procedures, patient transport, responding to change, and standards of behavior. Education and certification requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS American Heart E-Card, BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard, BLS Certification Grace, and BLS Cert Red Cross.

The complexity of work requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required work experience includes being currently enrolled in an accredited radiography technologist program subject to adequate document submission and verification.
