Pharmacy Intern (Part Time)
Pharmacy Intern This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. The Pharmacy Intern will be responsible for the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Assists in developing and configuring prior authorization decision trees in the workflow tool
- Participates in quality assurance feedback from pharmacists of prior authorization decision trees within the workflow tool
- Assists in implementing clinical programs within the prior authorization space
- Verifies member, provider, and drug information and inputs data for the prior authorization pharmacists.
- Educates providers on pharmacy-based rules related to prescriptions and medication resources or assistance programs.
- Processes prior authorization requests from physicians' offices and ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements; inform relevant parties of all prior authorization determinations.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to work 20 per week for the duration of the internship
- Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university.
- A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in applicable state(s) required.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences
- 1st year PharmD students are preferred.
- Prior experience working in pharmacy retail strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent Problem-solving, Analytical, and Organizational skills
- Excellent Public Speaking and Presentation skills
