Job Description

To provide the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 21 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for audiology. To function effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. To support the mission of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. To proactively support the efforts that ensures delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's.

Experience

  • No minimum experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Student internship experience in pediatrics

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication Disorders/Audiology required
  • Must have proof of current enrollment of fourth year in Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program

Certification Summary

  • No professional certifications required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information and positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment also required
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of date of hire

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides diagnostic assessments including behavioral audiometry, Auditory Brainstem Response, and Central Auditory Processing testing.
  • Conducts hearing aid evaluations; selects, fits, and dispenses hearing aids and assistive devices and provides training in use.
  • Counsels parent(s) regarding hearing loss and financial resources.
  • Provides cochlear implant programming.
  • Provides effective and appropriate aural rehab treatment so that functional outcomes are achieved.
  • Completes documentation meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
  • While clinical staff may serve a specific patient population, they have the potential to care for patients within the age population range served at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Clinical staff will have competencies that will incorporate age specific guidelines. This age population includes: N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult.
  • The resident includes family/caregiver in patient care and provides effective education appropriate for learning needs of patient and family.
