Registered Nurse Ambulatory Oncology

As a Registered Nurse supporting the Ambulatory Oncology team at the Banner Health Cancer Center Tucson, you will work with likeminded staff who strive to go above and beyond for the patients. You will apply sound judgment, clinical expertise, and execute critical nursing interventions to all populations within the patient care setting. You will conduct patient assessments and develop and implement nursing care plans to foster quality outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the finest Radiation Oncologists where you will continue to grow and develop in your nursing career.

This is a full-time position, scheduled 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm (Once the fundamentals of the roles are achieved, adjustment of work schedule can be reviewed with leadership. Clinic hours are 0800-1700, we are closed for the Banner recognized holidays and weekends).

This RN role is a pivotal part of patient care at our Cancer Center. The RN coordinator is the focal point to the path between the interdisciplinary team and the patient. Daily routines include:

  • Patient communication, education and triage
  • Coordination of patient-physician visits, to include inpatient treatments
  • Addressing medication needs, interpreting lab values and pathology
  • Knowing treatment regimens, nursing indications and understanding adverse reactions
  • Building a relationship with the physician and other key players of the oncology team
  • Assisting pediatric and adult patients for radiation treatments under sedation
