Unit Description and Preferred Requirement:
5300_1105300 Labor/Delivery-Hosp L&D BUMCP: Women & Infants Services (WIS) is the largest department at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix. Averaging approximately 6,700 deliveries per year, this is a fast-paced environment and has the most amount of deliveries in the state of Arizona. BUMC-P is accredited by the Arizona Perinatal Trust as a Level III Center which certifies that we are qualified to take care of the most high-risk patient population. The WIS department at BUMC-P is well known for our placenta accreta management and OB critical care. At BUMC-P we are a Magnet facility and the WIS department has been highlighted in many examples for our Magnet re-designations. As an academic medical center, teaching and training students, new employees, and residents is an essential part of our department. Our goal is to provide a positive learning environment full of great opportunities and support to learn and grow so that each employee can thrive and reach their fullest potential. ***This L&D unit is extremely stressful and busy as a level 1 trauma and requires a high level of autonomy from the NNE. NNE's will be working strictly in Labor & Delivery – they do NOT work Post-Partum, Ante-Partum or NICU. The serve a diverse and complex patient population (exp: patients who use drugs, chronic health problems, high risk deliveries, etc.). At this time, the BUMCP L&D team can ONLY take NNEs who have completed a hands on clinical rotation in L&D, ideally in a level 1 or level 2 trauma. NNEs for this team must have previous working experience in a hospital (ED Tech, PCA, etc.) in order to be eligible to be considered. Ratios are typically 1:3-4.
