This position is a full time, varied shift Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, but flexible to meet needs of the night shift team as well! It also includes a weekend and holiday rotation with the team. You will be working with and supporting the Behavioral Health Units at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center Location.

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, this activities may include participating in professional organizations.

CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs standard assignments within own job functions. Expanding knowledge of fundamental theories, practices, procedures, and concepts within the job's function.
  • Identifies and solves a range of problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using established procedures. Analyzes developments in the field for others.
  • Responds to non-standard requests from internal and/or external customers; investigates with assistance from others, as needed. Interacts primarily with department peers, supervisor, internal customers, patients and physicians.
  • Makes decisions within guidelines and policies that impact own priorities and allocation of time to meet deadlines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.
  • Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
  • Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience.
  • Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
